We’ve got the just released publicity stills from the new Batman movie THE DARK KNIGHT, slated to be the big summer movie for 2008.

Director Christopher Nolan is back, as is Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne, aka Batman), Gary Oldman (Lt. Gordon, presumably soon to be Commissioner Gordon), Heath Ledger (the Joker), and Aaron Eckhart (Gotham D.A., Harvey Dent). Let’s hope that Michael Caine returns as Alfred. Katie Holmes is on a Xenuesque adventure with some dude named Tom, and therefore will not reprise her role at Bruce Wayne’s love interest.

There are tidbits of info about the story floating around. It seems to revolve around Batman, Lt. Gordon and D.A. Harvey Dent trying to control the remaining criminal underworld while some dude in a really disturbing clown suit terrorizes Gotham City. Sounds awesome!  We can only hope it’s on par with BATMAN BEGINS, which is, hands-down, the best comic book movie ever made.
