Now that Lori (April Matson) has exposed Jessi (Jaimie Alexander) as the person who attacked her, the whole Trager family is on high alert. Even Nicole (Marguerite Macintyre) couldn’t have anticipated the violent propensity of the new girl in town, and she is her therapist. But, this presents a special problem for Kyle (Matt Dallas), who now knows what the weird connection is between him and Jessi. This poor kid is now stuck between a rock and a hard place. I mean, the Tragers are his new family, and he so desperately wants to fit in, but Jessi is part of him too so he can’t turn his back on her. This now means that Kyle will have to keep even more secrets from the people who took him in and made him one of their own. As if being a clone and having a personal guide in this journey wasn’t enough to keep hidden. Thank goodness he has Declan (Chris Olivero) to share it all with. Maybe Tom Foss (Nicholas Lea) will understand now why Kyle had to unload his burden on somebody his own age.
With Jessi’s secrets beginning to spill out all over the place, how is her psuedo-sister, Emily (Leah Cairns), supposed to keep her under control? And, does she even want to; after all, it seems as if Emily is developing a familial bond with Jessi. Maybe that’s because she’s transferring those maternal instincts for the mysterious little girl - who has just popped onto the scene – onto Jessi. We’ve been left to assume this little girl is Emily’s daughter, but is she? There is still the question as to how Foss fits into this family portrait. It’s clear that the rumor of Emily being Tom’s presumed dead wife isn’t true, but we are still left to wonder if the little girl is his daughter. We all know that Madacorp is capable of anything, so could they have snatched Tom’s little girl, in an attempt to punish him for his betrayal? Or maybe they are keeping her for leverage, should he threaten to spill the beans in the future.
With the season beginning to wind down, there are still a lot of questions that need to be answered. And, the Trager family is heading for a meltdown. Jessi is wreaking havoc with Lori, Nicole and Kyle and Amanda’s (Kirsten Prout) relationship. The poor girl has no clue what she is stuck in the middle of. Of course her sister Emily is very much aware of what’s going on, after all, she orchestrated the whole thing. I’d say operation infiltrate and destroy Kyle’s life is working out just as Madacorp had hoped it would. And now that Ballantine (Conrad Coates) has proof that his company’s new contraption can extract people’s memories – thanks to their dangerous experiments on Tom Foss – he is dead set on hooking Kyle up on it. I wonder how he will cope with that, now that his brain is sending him visions of the dead.
Actually, is it the dead, or a vision of himself in the future? With all the stress going on in his life, Kyle has begun to get dizzying headaches, which lead to a vision of what looks like Adam Baylin (J. Eddie Peck), but is really a manifestation of his subconscious guiding him through the ugly mess that is going on around him. Meanwhile, the Tragers are having some ugly marital problems, thanks to Emily’s well-placed hints at a nonexistent affair. Those Hollander women are destroying relationships all over the place. Amanda is none to pleased with how close Jessi and Kyle are getting, but that doesn’t stop Kyle from wanting to help his compatriot in germination. He is on a quest to find out whether Jessi was created for good or evil, and the way things are looking, evil is winning out. But, with Stephen (Bruce Thomas) accidentally witnessing the torture of Tom Foss, and discovering that Madacorp has an unhealthy interest in Kyle, maybe the Trager family can all be let in on Kyle’s secrets. God knows this family needs something to bring them back together.
Kyle now realizes that for better or worse, his fate and future are tied to Jessi’s. This may cause his new family pain, but just as Jessi may have been created evil, Kyle was created good. So, it appears that this is another story or good vs evil. Considering that this is a family show, I’d say good has a pretty good shot at winning out.
