I did not see this one coming. As the season finale unfolded, everything was finally coming together for the boys. They made it to Cannes, there are hot chicks everywhere, and there’s a bidding war for their movie, MEDILLIN.
And then, they screen the movie … and it sucks … really, really bad.
So now we’re back to square one. The $75 million-plus deal the boys were supposed to have is gone, they have no movie to show, and the future is, well, there is no future. It’s a bummer about them not taking all those offers before the screening. But really, someone maybe should have watched this thing before sending it off to the biggest film festival in the world, no?
But at least Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) found his dream girl, who just happens to be a huge Viking Quest fan. Too bad he’s got no money to keep her.
I have to admit, I think this was the best thing the show has ever done. It was actually a real ending, not the cheesy happy-ever-after crap that seems to happen on every episode. This season has muddled along with the usual Hollywood mountain-out-of-a-molehill drama along every step of getting the movie out to the public. And yet, nothing actually ever happens. At least the finale – though still pretty cheesy, what with the Drama getting laid on the beach to end the show – gave us something.
And one can only imagine where they go from here. I really hope the next season starts with the boys getting real jobs. Turtle’s selling drugs out of his apartment in West Hollywood. Drama will be working as a line cook at the TGI Fridays in Anaheim. Vince is turning tricks out of the back of a pickup truck for 15 bucks a pop. And E is … well, what did E ever do anyway?
Now that’s a show I would watch.
