The jig is up for our faux Tom (Joel Gretch.) But, with Meghan (Jenni Baird) and Diana (Jacquilin Mckenzie) on the case, that’s not surprising. These are two smart cookies, and it wasn’t going to take them long to figure out that something just wasn’t right with Tom’s new colder than ice attitude. What I can’t understand is why the marked ever thought they could slide by with this charade in the first place. And now that Meghan and Diana have figured out how to remove the entity from Tom, the marked may have to reassess their plans, whatever they may be. The only hitch in this kiddy up is the fact that the procedure to expel this unwanted intruder in Tom’s body is a dangerous one. But, that’s never really stopped NTAC before. Meanwhile, Shawn (Patrick Flueger) may have found somebody to help him rescue Dr. Kevin (Jeffrey Combs) from Promise City, where he’s been held as an unwilling guest of Jordan (Billy Campbell) and his crew.
With Promise City growing by leaps and bounds, thanks to Jordan’s messianic pull, it’s getting harder and harder to ensure that everybody who’s there is on their side; and in tonight’s episode of THE 4400, Jordan my end up being the victim of an infiltrator. You would think the gate keepers of this Utopia would be able to spot a fraud, but keep in mind that everyone there has a unique power of their own, which makes it a little difficult to keep up with. That being said, Jordan has managed to get out of even worse situations – hell he came back from the dead didn’t he? Besides, even if somebody was able to abolish Jordan for good there is always one of his loyal followers to take over in his place. Up until last year, Shawn would have been, and was, his approved of successor. Now, there is Kyle (Chad Faust) to take over the roll of benevolent leader.
It has become even more important to get rid of the intruder from the future that lives inside Tom’s body than ever before. With concerns that Maia (Conchita Campbell) may have an ill-timed vision, the marked have decided she must be taken care of. I think we all know what that means, after seeing some of their handiwork over the past few weeks. And with Jordan being their next intended host body, Tom has Isabelle (Megalyn Echikunwoke) working for his new side, from inside Promise City. Speaking of Promise City, there was a lot of action going on in tonight’s episode of THE 4400. Shawn and Tess (Summer Glau) gathered a group together and broke Kevin free. Since the good doctor is such an integral part of this whole Promicin mess, Jordan is none too pleased. Dr. Kevin is inching closer and closer to finding out who will live and who will die by taking Promicin. That does not bode well for the leader of Promise City, as his goal is to get every person in the world to take it, regardless of the danger.
I guess you could say Promise City and the marked are of one mind about Dr. Kevin, they just have different reasons for not wanting him to succeed. The marked doesn’t want anybody to take the green vile of super power, and these guys mean business; or should I say these nanites? I’m not going to even get into exactly how they overtake a human’s body – way too technical for me – but they can be destroyed by extreme amounts of radiation. Sounds more like a disease than a body snatcher: But I guess that’s the future for you. Brings to mind that saying, “do we run the machines, or are they running us?” Whatever the case may be, the fight for the future is in full throttle. And at this point, it’s any man or woman’s game. That’s a scary thought, when you consider we still don’t know for sure which side to root for.
With the season nearing its end, we now finally know what the marked is after. With these nasty nanites injected into Jordan, the plan is to have him use his ability to take away the abilities of everybody who has taken Promicin as well as the abilities of the original 4400. Oh if only the real Tom were around, he’d know what to do. Than again, who needs Tom when you have NTAC’s angels? Something tells me they’ll get the job done, even if they have to shoot a friend in the process. I guess we’ll have to wait until next week’s finally, to find out whether Tom survives and is nanite free.
