I am seriously trying to figure out why this episode is called Red Eye at Morning, and maybe I was high while watching it, but I have absolutely no idea. Turns out I don’t even care because Dean (Jensen Ackles) is as cute as he ever was this week. Seriously, can someone get me this dude’s number he’s like my dreamboat. P.S. It wouldn’t hurt if he wore the leather jacket, showed up in the car and carried a sawed off shotgun. Regardless of my fantasies, this weeks episode was sort of boring. Turns out, the ghosts of pissed off pirates from the days of yore are not all that exciting. Probably because all of Hollywood has overdone that scenario a million times over. CAN WE GET BACK TO THE DEMONS? I am seriously dying to know what is up with Ruby the demon & why does she act like she’s helping Sam (Jared Padalecki). Also, I need to know how they’re going to save Dean. If Dean dies off this show I’ll never watch it again. There’s plenty of lame programming with cute lead actors for me to watch.
So back to the dead pirate haunting. He’s a pirate. He’s pissed off & if you see his pirate ship you’re going to die. Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? Sophie is a local piece of ass and she’s doing her nightly jog when she sees the pirate ship. Later in the shower the pirate attacks her and she drowns. Boo hoo for stupid Sophie. Sam & Dean Winchester catch wind of the “murder” and head into town. On their way Dean confronts Sam about the missing bullet out of the colt and tells Sam to give up trying to save him. They argue and disagree about saving Dean from his untimely demise that’s creeping up around the corner. Once in town, they speak with Sophie’s grandmother. She tells them Alex has already spoken to her about the mysterious circumstances surrounding Sophie’s death and that it might have something to do with paranormal conditions. Then the old cougar starts rubbing Sam’s hand and I got to laugh my ass off at the fact that the roles are reversed and some chick isn’t getting felt up by old man river for a change.
While investigating the second mysterious drowning the boys run into Bella Lugosi, peddler of authentic supernatural goods and devices. When they see Bella, the identity of Alex becomes clear. They speak to the deceased man’s brother who also claims to have seen the ship. Sam and Dean take up watch outside the brother’s house. The brother confronts them and then hops in his car. It’s then that the ghost shows up and drowns the brother before Sam & Dean can help them. Feeling like failures, Bella shows up and offers to work with them to collect the remains of the pirate haunting the area, his hand was kept as a souvenir after he’d been killed by his brother—the captain of the ship.
The trio gets Sophie’s grandmother to invite them to an event at the local maritime museum so they can capture the hand that’s on display there. Sam has to act as a date and host to the old woman, who fondles and toys with him the entire evening while Dean and Bella work to get a hold of the hand. Bella plays decoy, pretending to faint in order to gain the two access to the area upstairs where the hand is on display. Dean steals it and comes back to Bella, telling her she cannot have the hand because he doesn’t trust her. Meanwhile, Sophie tells Sam that the brother’s probably deserved to die because they supposedly killed their father to inherit his 120 million dollar estate. Sam then questions her asking if anything like that had ever happened to Sophie—and it turns out Sophie killed her cousin years ago in a car wreck. The ghost is avenging the deaths of murders done in the family.
Sam, Dean & Bella go their separate ways. Once at the car Dean takes out what he believes to be the hand and realizes that Bella made a switch and is in possession of the only item that will put the pirate to rest. It’s at this point that Bella sees the pirate ship. Bella contacts the brothers, telling them she sold the hand and it is already on its way out of the country. Dean tells her he’s happy her time is up, but Sam has a plan. He summons the ghost of the pirate’s brother—the ship’s captain. When the two see one another, the wronged brother attacks the captain as the captain apologizes. It’s at this point that Bella is free and the curse is broken.
Bella chucks the brother’s ten grand to not be in their debt and Dean makes a race for Atlantic City. He tells Sam that he’s ok with dying. Sam tells him that he needs to stop trying to take care of him and start taking care of himself because Dean’s about to die. Dean simply responds by saying he plans to play craps. God, he even loves craps. Dean is my soul mate. Now he just has to make it into the next season.
