THE BIG BANG can have all the THEORY it wants to, this week’s episode had no point to it whatsoever. Don’t believe me? Ok, follow along:
Things started with Koothrappali doing some webcam chatting with his parents in New Deli, showing them his life in America, his friends etc. Turned out Kooth’s parents had some special news for him too: they had arranged for him to marry a childhood nemesis, a dentist who also lived in California! Because that could happen!
Anyway, Kooth can’t talk to girls, which was the perfect cue for Penny to come through the door and say that she was becoming a bartender and needed test subjects! So Penny got the nerd-squad drunk—or rather, served them a drink—which was enough to get Kooth’s gears turning and his mouth running—to Penny, a girl, no less! Convinced that alcohol was all the game he needed, Kooth was ready to meet up with his bride at Penny’s restaurant.
Of course said bride was hot, and cool—and of course Kooth, in trying too hard and drinking too much, blew it. Then Sheldon walked in, said something to Kooth’s bride about how she looked like some princess from an Indian fairytale he’d read as a boy, and suddenly the bride was leaving with Sheldon. The episode “climaxed” with Sheldon coming home to a furious Kooth, blandly apologizing, Kooth’s parents freaking out that he’d been drinking, and Sheldon wandering off, oblivious that he passed on a chance with a beautiful girl.
See the point? No? Me either. Somebody tap Chuck Lorre and tell him no more strikey for him. Time to write fella. Time to save your little show. Before I waste anymore time.
