SUPERNATURAL -- "Fresh Blood"

By Sabrina Cognata

Here we go again, god, that isn’t just a line from a White Snake song.  The Winchester brother’s, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are on the hunt for a vampire.  They end up on the trail of a very hungry female that tells them she’s on some sort of drug.  Some loser’s going from bar-to-bar telling stupid broads that he can give them the high of their life.  Too bad the drug of his choice is vampire blood and he’s turning super hot sexy blondes into vampires.  Wah-wah.  After realizing what’s been going on, Sam and Dean head off to the bar scene where they wait for the male vampire/dealer to attempt to turn another girl.

In another part of town, crazy Gordon has broken out of prison and hunts down Bella with the hopes of tracking down and killing Sam.  After threatening Bella’s life, Bella explains to Gordon it isn’t her life he should be appealing to and much rather, her bank account.  Once Gordon realizes he cannot afford Bella, she makes him an offer he cannot refuse by asking for a priceless amulet in return for the knowledge of Sam and Dean’s whereabouts.

With Bella’s information in tow, Gordon and his sidekick head over to Sam and Dean with the hopes of annihilating Sam, whom they consider the anti-Christ.  While the Winchester brothers are in the middle of managing the vampire situation, Gordon interferes and ends up getting caught by the vampire.  Sam and Dean escape unscathed, but are not aware of psycho’s presence, as well as, their prior vampire commitment.

Back at the vampire’s nest, Gordon is told that he’s lunch for the vampire’s very hungry new additions to his family.  Gordon calls the family a joke and the vampire a monster.  After failing to change Gordon’s mind about the fact that he destroyed thousands of vampire lives, the vampire does one better and instead of draining his blood for supper, he turns Gordon into the thing he hates most, a vampire.

Once the boys realize who gave their whereabouts to Gordon, Dean calls up Bella and tells her she’s dead next.  Bella uses one of her enchanted items, contacts the other side and finds out where Gordon is to get the Winchester brothers off her ass.  There is a special message from our dead friends, telling Sam and Dean to get their ass out of town.  Never to be undone, Sam and Dean do not hightail it out of town, but rather, they go after Gordon, who they realize has been turned into a vampire.  Once they arrive, they find the head vampire mourning the recent loss of his family as a super charged Gordon, has escaped from his shackles and killed everyone.

Once back at their motel room, Dean tells Sam to stay put while he huts for Gordon.  Sam confronts Dean, telling him his newly found death wish is a front for the fact that he’s terrified of dying as the year he’d got to live is ending rapidly.  Dean laments and admits Sam is right and the two of them hunt down Gordon.  In the midst of the fracas, Sam and Dean are separated by Gordon.  Dean is left to manage a newly turned vampire.  While Sam has to defend himself against a PCP pumped up Gordon.  When Dean finally is able to get past the barrier, Gordon throws him and Sam’s able to grab some barbed wire (lame, I know) and manages to use it to cut Gordon’s head off.  Seriously, where’s the barbed wire when I need it?  The show ends with Dean showing Sam how to fix his 67 Impala because Sam’ll need to know how to take care of it when Dean’s time runs out.

I think Anthony Hopkins did a great job in this movie. I thought it was slow at first, but it built up later.
