Hey guys! If you’ve been wondering what the Wachowski Brothers have been up to since screwing up THE MATRIX TRILOGY, we at critics rant finally have your answer in the form of some startling new pics, and the first official trailer from the brothers’ live-action remake of anime cult favorite SPEED RACER.

As you can see from the stills and the trailer, the Wachowskis have opted for a kind of ‘living video game’ look for the film. The Wachowskis themselves have stated that they want this film to be a “living cartoon” that would appeal to children, so… there you have it, (although, after seeing that highway chase in THE MATRIX RELOADED, I’m not sure that they shouldn’t have just gone with the traditional approach.)

The cast is pretty extensive, including stars like Christina Ricci, Emile Hirsch, Matthew Fox, Susan Sarandon, and John Goodman. Having seen the trailer, some of the driving sequences and even the dramatic parts are ridiculously over the top, and will surely polarize viewers into the usual camps of ‘hate it or love it.’
