When I heard that one of my favorite graphic novels of recent years, Mark Millar’s WANTED, was getting a big-screen
makeover I was psyched. When I saw the first trailer for the film I was double-psyched: Angelina Jolie as a hot assassin, Morgan Freeman involved, kick-ass action sequences, bullets flying every which way. And I do mean EVERY which way.
However, it seems that I was one of the few people pleased with what I saw, as WANTED got slammed on the internet as being a “Matrix knock-off” and such, which will most likely happen to every action flick of the next decade that dares to do slow-motion (sarcasm alert.) For those not familiar, WANTED tells the story of a slacker (James McAvoy) who discovers he is the son of a legendary assassin, able to perform feats of manslaughter that even
RAMBO would envy.

Universal, the studio behind WANTED, recently gave a big middle finger to the Internet’s bitch-and-moan elite, shifting the film from its original March 28th debut to a June 27th release—the dead heat of the summer blockbuster season. Such a move can only be seen as a show of immense support and confidence on Universal’s part, believing that WANTED can cap both VALKYRIE, the WWII thriller starring Tom Cruise, and Pixar’s CGI feature WALL-E, to cash in at the summer box office.
Watch the trailer for yourself and rant back to let us know if WANTED will slaughter the competition on June 27, or if Universal has just shot itself in the foot.
House Season Finale — “Human Error”
I have watched House since the begining. I have not missed an episode yet. This seasons ending was a surprize, but I think also needed. House needs a new team. I'm always miffed that his subordinates know how intelligent, and usually right House is, yet they are always arguing about his decisians. I realize that this is to add drama to the show, but next year I would like to see at least one, but not all, to be in House's corner. And please drop the bit about his addiction!
