JUNO: Knocks Over Knocked Up

I cannot remember the last time I sat through an entire movie where I got to feel an array of emotions that were not “disgusted” or “let down”.  JUNO is Jason Reitman’s wonderfully crafted tale about a high school Junior named Juno McGruff (Ellen Page) and her quest to make good by her unplanned pregnancy, fathered by her best friend and love interest Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera).

THE GOLDEN COMPASS: Kofi's Take

The transition from book to movie has always been a tightrope walk. An adaptation must touch upon just the right amount of detail to keep the film true to the book, without bogging viewers down with so much explanation that the movie begins to drag. THE GOLDEN COMPASS takes this latter obligation a bit too far, shaving Phillip Pullman’s dense novel down to a lean, fractured, narrative that leaves you mulling more and more questions, long after the end credits have rolled.

THE GOLDEN COMPASS: Faith's Take

Parents do not take your children to see THE GOLDEN COMPASS. It has nothing to do with the apparent sacrilegious content (all the religious tones have been stripped away by the way). It has everything to do with THE GOLDEN COMPASS possibly being the most boring movie I’ve seen all year. If I were an 11-year old kid, I’m sure it would be more delightful to spend the day at the dentist’s office.

SAVING GRACE -- "This Way Is Too Normal For You"

Grace’s friend Rhetta Rodriguez (Laura San Giacomo) thinks she may have walked into the wrong house. It looks like Grace’s living room, but it’s neat and there are no empty booze bottles lying around. It turns out Grace Hanadarko (Holly Hunter) has a date with a fellow she’s been seeing. His name’s Jack (Gordon MacDonald) and he’s the visiting nephew of her next door neighbor.

SAW V Is Coming... Of Course

…And you have nobody to blame but yourself! Since SAW IV made yet another torturous killing at the box office this year, SAW V is naturally on the way, currently marked on the calendar for a release date of October 24, 2008.

DEXTER -- "Turn Left Ahead"

The down side to magnificent television writing such as DEXTER, a show that has taken the path carved by THE SOPRANOS and THE WIRE- the path of pushing a complete narrative in one season to new heights, the down side is that during the much anticipated final act, the climb to the precipice can turn slow. This season has been so good, so perfectly explored and plotted out, one can forgive an episode like tonight’s that works mostly to pump up the finale.

PROJECT RUNWAY -- "Trendsetters"

This week my suspicion about the sad PROJECT RUNWAY typecasts is finally confirmed.  Too bad it isn’t killing all parts of this show because some of the contestants are not only happy to play the role they are cast as, but they’re willing to do it while being as dumb as possible.

SCRUBS -- "My Number One Doctor"

Last week I said it was my professional opinion that SCRUBS sucks—actually, I think it’s always sucked, but this season is exceptionally sucky.  Sucky is a technical term I learned in 8th grade that I find appropriately applicable in this case.

Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull poster Revealed!

We've got the official poster from Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull! Check it out!

MY NAME IS EARL -- "Early Release"

Oh man, I thought I actually loved this show, but it kills me to say that the whole shedding of the prison skin could have been both funnier and more clever.  When we left Earl (Jason Lee) last week, he successfully saved the Warden’s (Craig T. Nelson) ass by making his silly Reconciliation Program a success in front of the press.  Then the Warden gets scared at the fact that Earl will be getting out of jail and shreds the document that will reward Earl with an early release.

Behind The Scenes Clip From SUPERBAD

Maybe its because I’m still LMAO, or maybe its because we all need a little McLovin sometimes, but whatever the case, I feel the need to lighten the mood today with a little behind the scenes clip from the SUPERBAD DVD, which went on sale this week.

Check out the clip inside and rant back to us about your top 5 laughs from SUPERBAD.
