THE WIRE is the most critically acclaimed TV series never to win an Emmy or a Golden Globe or a People’s Choice Award. (It did win a prestigious Peabody, but the Peabody is an entirely different prize category. It would like comparing a Pulitzer to a Mystery Writers award – no disrespect intended. I personally would take any award.)

Comic book auteur Alan Moore is notorious for his disapproval of how the film industry treats his work. He had no problem verbally bashing the creators of V FOR VENDETTA for their ‘liberal take’ on his graphic novel. Well Moore is
back at it again, as he recently made it known that he WILL NOT be taking an active interest in director Zack Snyder’s (300) adaptation of his groundbreaking graphic novel,
THE WATCHMEN.

This begins the fifth season of THE L WORD. While there are new elements to the show, most things remain unchanged. Once again we discover that television lesbians are really hot. In fact, I’m thinking of switching sides – and I’m a guy. The other thing is that they have a great sex life, far better than the average person. Okay, let me not speak for you. It’s certainly far better than mine – hence my desire to switch.

He hasn’t been done with
HELLBOY II for five minutes, yet famed Mexican director Guillermo Del Toro already has his sights set on another mythical monster: Mary Shelly’s FRANKENSTEIN. With PAN’S LAYBRINTH, the Oscar-nominated director has already proven he can craft a film that features monsters both human and supernatural—so bringing the tale of the insidious Dr. Frankenstein and his abominable creation to the screen would be a logical step for his rising career.

This movie should be called SEXY UGLY: Things people do not want to admit about human sexuality because Leon (Jean Reno) is not really that good looking of a guy, but by the end of the film you love him, want to bear his children and find him incredibly and unwaveringly desirable. This is the story of Mathilda (Natalie Portman) and the man that lives down the hall from her, Leon. Leon is a hired hit man and a serious mo’fo’.
