The Directors Guild of America has announced the nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for 2007. In case you’re not privy to exactly what this is, it’s basically like a pissing contest and precursor for whom will win the oscar for Best Director. It turns out that since the initiation of this award 60-years-ago, it has only incorrectly indicated who would win the Oscar for Best Director six times. I guess this means if you consider yourself some sort of film buff you should pay attention to what’s going on here.
Although, will it really matter who wins this award? If the Writer’s Guild of America, WGA, cannot solve their strike issues will there even be an Academy Awards ceremony? The Hollywood Foreign Press has announced the cancellation of the Golden Globes award ceremony, saying it will be held like a press conference. Pretty much any reason fat female America has to watch the show has been killed cause everyone knows the only reason most women watch stupid award shows is to see who’s wearing what.
Anyways, the nominees of the Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement are the following:
Paul Thomas Anderson for THERE WILL BE BLOOD
Joel Coen & Ethan Coen for NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
Tony Gilroy for MICHAEL CLAYTON
Sean Penn for INTO THE WILD
Julian Schnabel for THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY
I’ve seen all of these films with the exception of THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY and they actually are the best overall films to come out in 2007 so in a way they were sort of easy to predict. Then again, they’re looking for the best director of a motion picture film, so I suppose the fact that these films are all sort of awesome, goes without saying, right?
WILD HOGS: Not a bad ride.
I'm sorry but I have to agree with nevadagirl, you must be very boring, this movie was totally hilarious and I completely enjoyed it. I thought that these four guys worked very well together and they were the perfect matches for the movie. Maybe if you watch it again, or maybe you saw a different movie?
