Tyler Perry To Appear In Star Trek?!

By Kofi Outlaw

Pop Quiz: why would a bonafide media mogul bother to appear in the reboot of a (nerd) beloved sci-fi franchise?

Answer: no idea, but it’s going down.

Tyler Perry, the writer/producer/director/actor/ behind such church-goer fare such as MADEA’S FAMILY REUNION, and WHY DID I GET MARRIED, has recently been shooting scenes for J.J. Abrams upcoming STAR TREK reboot. Perry will reportedly play the head of Starfleet Academy, who tries to keep young upstarts James T. Kirk and Spock in line. Perry has already filmed scenes opposite co-stars Chris Pine (who plays Kirk) and Zachary Quinto (Spock). No word yet on whether Perry will wear men’s or women’s clothing for the role.  (Sorry, sorry, I just couldn’t resist!)

STAR TREK is scheduled for a Christmas Day, 2008 release. It will star Eric Bana, Winona Ryder, Leonard Nimoy, Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Karl Urban, Chris Hemsworth, Zoe Saldana, and Clifton Collins Jr.

SUNSHINE: Fun, But Not Boyle's Best
Awesome movie, one of the better sf films i've seen in a long while. I agree it took a wrong turn toward the end but the first 2/3 of it was sooooo great. It would have been a top scifi classic if not for the end.

LONELY HEARTS- A HEARTY LITTLE THRILLER
I loved this film. I found it to be engaging and interesting to follow. Although it wasn't true to the story (The real Martha Beck was FAR from good looking) and was a very 'Hollywood' approach to the story of these 2 serial killers, it was an good performance by all the actors, Jared Leto always impresses me and this was no exception. I was also refreshing to see Salma Hayek as a true bad guy- not someone misunderstood.
