Wizard Magazine is reporting that J.J. Abrams will use the Jan. 18 premiere of his monster-in-Manhattan flick CLOVERFIELD to also premiere the first trailer for his upcoming STAR TREK reboot. The trailer will then appear on the Web that following Monday, Jan. 21. Trekkies worldwide are still swooning from the news.
The latest TREK installment will be a prequel chapter that follows James T. Kirk and longtime chum Spock, as the pair graduate from Star Fleet Academy and go on to helm a quaint little space vessel you may know as the Enterprise.
STAR TREK will star Eric Bana, Winona Ryder, Leonard Nimoy, Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Karl Urban, Chris Hemsworth, Zoe Saldana [LINK 2], Tyler Perry [LINK 3] and Clifton Collins Jr. The film is currently slated for a Christmas 2008 release.
