Rumors are
abound that production on Warner Bros.’ JUSTICE LEAGUE movie has been delayed, after months of casting controversy and overall hype.
Sources close to the
film report that execs over at Warner Bros. finally realized that there were too many unresolved issues for JUSTICE LEAGUE to enter into an
expensive, if not uncertain, production.
“Justice League is indeed in danger of not starting production on time and maybe even getting scrapped altogether” is what a studio source told the IESB last week. "The concerns are that the script is not ready to go in front of cameras, and also that the budget is getting a bit out of control, the WGA strike has proven to be Kryptonite to Superman and friends."
Aside from script and monetary concerns, Warner Bros. execs seem to have also taken note of fans’ rabid objections to many of the young actors cast in the film, most notably the two relative unknowns playing Superman and Batman. Director Christopher Nolan has repeatedly expressed his displeasure with the studio for pushing ahead so quickly with JL, when his upcoming film, BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT has been generating such fantastic buzz.
If rumors are to be believed, the official start date on JUSTICE LEAGUE has been pushed back to late spring, or even summer of this year—that is if the film doesn’t end up falling apart completely. Personally, I think that Warner Bros. should focus on introducing each JL member to their own film franchise (Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern) before worrying about trying to cram them all into one movie. But that’s just me.
In the meantime, rant back let us know what you think about the possibility of JUSTICE LEAGUE never reaching theaters.
