…Because it’s just that
good!
In a mind-bending twist, studio Lionsgate has opted not to screen Sylvester Stallone vehicle
RAMBO for the press. A few reporters who attended a press junket for the film last week were treated to a screener of the movie—only after they were made to sign strict Non Disclosure agreements.
Now for those quick to brush such developments aside as empty conspiracy theory, I ask you to remember three important things:
Like September, films slated for January releases are usually stinkers, which studios dump into theaters at a time when competition at the box office is traditionally lite.
Movies not screened for the press ahead of time, in order to build better buzz, are usually stinkers. Not all the time, but 99.9999% of the time.
This is Lionsgate we’re talking about—the same studio that has two more
SAW films on the way. If those guys don’t want people to screen a movie, rest assured it’s bad.
Are you still going to go see RAMBO on Jan. 25, knowing full well what kind of suffering you’re asking for? Are you really that masochistic? I’m thinking that I might be, lord forgive me.
