Max Smart (Steve Carell) is a bumbling agent looking for action and creating hijinx wherever he goes. After the headquarters of the US spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of all their agents are at stake of being exposed, Smart’s partnered with veteran Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). After watching the trailer the movie seems to stick with Carell’s strengths with tons of gags and slapstick humor so I cannot wait. After watching it, what do you think? Will it uphold the hilarity of the classic television show, or is it going to be another bastard remake that’s even worse than some of the original crap out there?

Acclaimed director Oliver Stone (JFK) was hinting that he wanted to do a biopic about President George W. Bush as far back as his ALEXANDER press tour in 2004. Now, that wish is becoming a reality as the film, entitled BUSH, is gearing up for an April production start date, barring any delays from the looming SAG strike.

Since the writer’s strike hasn’t ended this is the last episode of UGLY BETTY that we’ll see for a while. I am not sure where they planned to go with things, but I sort of enjoy the fracas established by making Gio a more central character and I really want to see him step in when Henry has to leave for Arizona when his baby is born. I also am dying to see what happens with Christina and Wilhelmina’s baby, as well as the relationship with Daniel and Renee. Do you have any ideas, questions or problems? Voice them in the comments.
SLEEPWALKER, starring Charlize Theron, Anna Sophia Robb (The Reaping) and Nick Stahl (T3), tells the story of a listless mother named Joleen (Theron), who ditches her daughter (Robb) with her younger brother (Stahl), so that she can take off with a random guy. When Joleen’s cantankerous father (Dennis Hopper) fails to be of any assistance, the younger brother realizes that he must step up and be the girl’s guardian. SLEEPWALKER is being helmed by Bill Maher (no, not THAT Bill Maher.) Woody Harrelson is set to co-star.

As goofy as CHUCK is, to make it work there needs to be some danger, some real risk, some real threat to these fun cartoon-y characters that make us smile. In other words there needs to be at least some wadding pool depth or no one would care and in the second episode of the CHUCK sandwich delivered by NBC we got just that: pathos.

Hey Gang! We’ve got the first promo
poster for the upcoming
SEX AND THE CITY movie. The poster has a classic-Broadway feel to it, complete with the series trademark glitz, glam, and fabulous accessories.
Take a look at the poster and rant back to us what you think.

One of the most fun shows of the new TV season came back as NBC tried to lock down a Thursday night ratings win by sandwiching two new episodes of the freshman spy-comedy CHUCK around the execrable CELEBRITY APPRENTICE. If watching two jaunty episodes of this delightful show enveloping that stinkfest of a reality program doesn’t highlight the debt TV owes to professional writers then the promos certainly do. The poor cast of CHUCK was clearly strong-armed to cut some hastily slapped together shtick written by some hack in the promotions division to remind us all how “young and hip” the show is.
CHOKE, the upcoming film based on best-selling author Chuck Palahnuik’s 2001 novel of the same name, was recently
previewed at the Sundance Film Festival, earning some positive reviews. We here at Critics Rant have the first clips from the film, which premiered on the Sundance channel this week, along with a brief interview with the film’s director, actor Clark Gregg (THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE).
MTV News recently caught up with Oscar-winner William Hurt at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and took the opportunity to solicit the actor’s opinion on both his role as General “Thunderbolt Ross” in the upcoming INCREDIBLE HULK reboot, and his rumored crossover
scene with another Marvel superhero, IRON MAN.

I have to admit, when I first saw the previews for this show my initial reaction was Oh, they gave the dad from MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE his own show, rad. Thankfully, I am an idiot and Bryan Cranston is more than the character Hal. As for pilots, this one is absolutely awesome in the way the action starts suddenly and you’re immediately drawn into the story because you have to know why? It’s the cosmic question and the easiest way to hook a viewer. Walter is the everyday man. As a character he’s easy to relate to and sympathetic. You like Walter especially once he decides to go rogue and goes from everyday man to anti-hero.
