Movie monsters never die, especially not if there’s one more dollar to be squeezed out of them. According to Variety, New Line has finally gotten around to resurrecting yet another horror franchise from the glorious 1980s: Freddy Kreuger. That’s right, Ol’ Claw Hands is coming back, courtesy of Platinum Dunes, the production company tasked by New Line to relaunch the franchise, which has stretched over nine films and two TV shows. Platinum Dunes—consisting of partners Brad Fuller, Andrew Form and scariest of all, Michael Bay—is also behind the projected reboot of the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise, scheduled to start in April.
Reportedly, Bay and his bad boys will develop the franchise based on the 1984 original, directed by horror master Wes Craven, which may mean that, as in previous reboots, much of the established chronology will be rejected. Considering how silly they got, this could be good news for old-school horror fans. Platinum Dunes seems to be remake-happy; their reportedly full dance card includes remakes of the 1986 cult favorite NEAR DARK and Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 masterpiece THE BIRDS. No word yet on whether the production of the latter will be powered by Hitchcock spinning in his grave.
Apocalypto, or "This Guy Being Chased by Those Guys," or "How I Put My Wife in a Hole"
I thought this was a Great movie as well. Considering Mel was using modern day Mayan people who has never had an acting class ever. Mel showing them what he needed, yea this movie in my opinion was epic movie from Mel Gibson. Considering the Mayan violent history it's amazing that there was any Mayan's left to make this movie. Way to go Mel, and I would personally love to see him make a holocaust movie, I think he would again step up to the plate and do what he does, make great movies!
