And he should probably enjoy working with dogs as well.
Did you know that Universal was working on a remake of their 1941 classic THE WOLF MAN? Me neither. Apparently, they are, but the studio has to get over a little snag: the director
just quit. Yes, Mark Romanek, whose directorial debut was the 2002 Robin Williams creep-fest ONE-HOUR PHOTO, has departed the project over the much-cited “creative differences,” which reportedly also included differences over the budget. The $85 million project—well, $100 million, not counting the $15 million in tax breaks the U.K. tossed in—is yet another in Universal’s revisiting of its horror library, following previous efforts such as THE MUMMY and VAN HELSING (more or less).
THE WOLF MAN, which is scheduled to begin shooting in March, will star Benicio Del Toro in the title role, originally made famous by Lon Chaney Jr. Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt have just recently been confirmed to star as well. Universal hopes to have another director hired by the end of the week, so audiences may soon get to find out if Mr. Del Toro will become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright, regardless of whatever prayers he says at night.
