On the Lot — Surprisingly Still On the Air

Doing my taxes. Loading the dishwasher. Watching the Military Channel. Standing in the security line at the airport. These things are ALL more interesting than ON THE LOT, Fox’s sad attempt to bring the glamour of AMERICAN IDOL to filmmaking.

The executives at Fox realize there’s a problem with the moribund show, and that’s why instead of two or three hours to broadcast this week, there is only one. “Hallelujah,” says this intrepid reporter. Instead of having to sit through fifteen short films, I only had to sit through five, and you know what? That was more than enough.

The only thing less interesting than the contestants is watching their films. The only thing more annoying than listening to the judges is listening to host stumble through her lines. The five films last night were so predictable I didnt even feel the need to keep my eyes on the screen for the entire three minutes each lasted. The only bright spot was the actual criticizem offered by Michael Bay. All of the other judges gave non-commital opinions with very little advice to build upon. This show needs a Simon Cowell, badly.

From bad to worse. This show has jumped the shark in only 3 airings. That has to be a world record. They should spare us all and cancel it right now. Send the hostess chick back to acting school, or to Chatsworth, which would be the perfect place for her talents. the panel needs to stay retired. Looks like Ratner made the best move by bailing out early.

You can't blame Fox.. they're just trying to get more out of the reality show cash cow.... and the cow sh*t just stank up the airwaves.

Reality shows in general have lower production budgets and high viewership ratings. What more can a studio exec ask for?

On the lot needs to go back down the mouths of the people who suggested this sad, sad plot.
