With Heath Ledger’s tragic death the upcoming Batman sequel THE DARK KNIGHT is facing some high hurdles. One of the major dilemmas is how to now market the film. On the one hand, industry analysts predict that fans’ morbid curiosity about Ledger’s final performance will help fill theaters, and that the current marketing strategy—namely highlighting Leger’s groundbreaking turn as The Joker—should continue.

it should be carried out in honor of heath. he ultimately gave his life to his work. to shelve it would to make void his final effort and render meaningless what possibly is what killed him.

It all really depends on his family, I dont think the Studio would continue to use his liking if the family thought that to be cruel and ill conceived. Though I think it would be a shame to strip the concept of the joker promo because in Heath 's final interviews he says that the joker was the most fun he as played in a character. The dark side of the Joker did not kill him, yes one may argue the character can invoke scary thoughts but that wasnt the case. The case was Heath couldn't sleep, Insomina is a deadly thing, One will do anything, take anything, to be able to drift off to the land of sleep. It is said he started suffering from insomina after the movie I'm Not There, so its aweful that, that movie is getting acclaim awards and critical praise but a movie based on a superhero is getting scruntizes as it is and put on trial for the world to debate about.

you know...
why would the family have any say in what the production of the dark knight movie producers should do as to release? i believe that the actors all sign out a wager or an aggreement of some sort to deal these issues all out. ITs the full right of the producers to decide what to do about their movie and not anything about what a 3rd party(aka the family of Heath) says or decides to do. They arent the ones under the contract nor are they the onlys forking out 53 million dollars for the production!

However... maybe out of the courtousy and respect of the Ledgers, maybe no posters or promotional pictures should be displayed out of respect for the dead.
