Had a chance to watch this flick this weekend. Its was awesome.....Yes, disturbing, but great story, action and depiction of a brutal civilization...It's easy to rip Mel Gibson considering his recent string of public absurdity, but you can't deny he's a great film maker. You say Passion of the Christ was marketing genius that roped in the gullible? You're saying Christians are gullible? Or people who were genuinely interested in seeing what is considered an accurate account of of Jesus's Christ last days? Someone has a chip on their shoulder, their LEFT shoulder to be precise. I wonder if this critic would have liked the movie if it was done by a more "liberal" filmmaker?

Did we not watch the same movie? But then again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion - even me!

No, I don't have a chip on my shoulder, I just firmly believe that after Gibson cashed in on Braveheart, he figured out how to boil down a movie into it's component molecules and get the most for least - i.e., less story, more bloody action.

Passion of the Christ WAS nothing more than a brilliant marketing scam and no, I don't think it's just Christians who are gullible, it's the entire general public who simply watch a movie and say it's fantastic just because everyone else says so. I would have appreciated The Passion if it would have been a real movie with an actual plot, story, etc. instead of 2 hours of watching Christ get sliced and diced.

Oh, and I forgot to mention The Patriot - aka Bowling for Limeys - Another Gibson farce.

Definition of Good movie:

- one that you don't know what will happen with the main characters. One where the ending is not predictable.

Passion of Christ ... NOT a good Movie.
it was just a multi media version of the Bible.

Logically we can conclude that:
- Bad movie that generates a lot of moolah = brilliant marketing scam

yooooo!! this movie is the best i watched it in school. it has a great history, and the movies itself is just great. i would recommend all you to get it, its great!

I thought this was a Great movie as well. Considering Mel was using modern day Mayan people who has never had an acting class ever. Mel showing them what he needed, yea this movie in my opinion was epic movie from Mel Gibson. Considering the Mayan violent history it's amazing that there was any Mayan's left to make this movie. Way to go Mel, and I would personally love to see him make a holocaust movie, I think he would again step up to the plate and do what he does, make great movies!

I WAS NOT SURE AT FIRST WHAT TO THINK ABOUT IT, BUT I COULD NOT STOP WATCHING. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS MOVIE. I WISH IT WAS IN ENGLISH,BUT IT WAS GREAT ANYWAY. I THINK MEL GIBSON REALLY GETS DEEP IN HIS MOVIES. I LIKE THAT. I DID NOT THINK SOME OF THE COMMENTS WOULD HAVE BEEN USED AT THE TIME, BUT MAYBE THEY WERE.

The guy outran a jaguar for 20 mins.
1 second he's on the branches with a jaguar growling at him. Then suddenly he's in the jungle outrunning this jaguar.

Next, you see the fake cat from Sabrina the teenage witch attacking one of his pursuers.

Oh.... don't forget the voodoo factor and the Rambo factor in this movie.

I liked this movie, its not what I thought it was. Its better. Reminds me of the saying, don't judge a book by its cover. I give it 8 fingers up!!

The movie was an action movie through and through, it just happened to be situated near the Mayan temples at turn-of-the-century South America. Once you accept that it is nothing more than an action flick with Gibson's familiar themes of family protection and personal sacrifice, then you can move on to how gripping the movie was.

And it was truly gripping. Scenes were shot well, pacing was exhausting. Watching it feels like a workout.

It's not trying to be a documentary for goodness' sake. So don't expect it to shed some light on Mayan civilization or why the eclipse created havoc on the populace. It's merely telling the story of one man fighting to keep his family alive.

Go rent it, watch it, and enjoy it. Just make sure your popcorn lasts 3 hours!

The visual effect of this movie is just outstanding. I was transported into another world. But regretfully the ideas are almost directly borrowed from the famous movie "The Naked Prey”. If you have not seen the aforementioned, then you surely will like this movie. But it was predictable, even the snake bite was borrowed from the "Naked Prey". The movie’s ending is also historically imbalanced. But it is a great movie because you rarely see a movie about he Mayans and their great history. Do not miss this one!
